Logging is due to commence in the final block, for the summer harvest period, in Whakarewarewa. The contractor will move into the Tawa Road area on 13 March 2025. Operational hours for the logging crew will be 5:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday.
Please see attached a map showing the area of operation.

As we transition between the two blocks, Stop/Go will adapt to ensure safety of the two overlapping harvest operations.
Several mountain bike trails will be affected by this operation including, Te Mounga (upper) – Huckleberry Hound – Corners (Upper) – Frontal Lobotomy – Upper DH lines – Underbilly – Billy T.
Closures Are Dependent on Timing/Location of Felling Operations

Access will be limited to other trails while the crew are operating. Due to Tawa Road having restricted access, the trails in the native above Tawa Road will be off limits during operations.
Timberlands requests that forest users please use caution in the area, obey all signage, instructions, restrictions and respect the traffic controllers – they are there for your safety."
Pease study the map carefully, plan your ride accordingly and be prepared to deviate you route if required. Don't worry, it's a really big forest and there are still plenty of amazing trails to enjoy out there!
