SEE THE POST BELOW FOR FULL DETAILS.
Closures Are Dependent on Timing/Location of Felling Operations and can change without notice.

WALKING TRAILS
Sections of the Yellow, Purple and Black Walking Tracks are not currently open.
Please look at the maps below.
Obey all signage a be prepared to deviate your planned route.
Black Walking Track has been rerouted. Follow the Black Arrows :)

HORSE TRAILS
We love sharing the forest with everyone and truly appreciate the respect and care most riders show for this special place.
At the moment, please do not use walking or mountain bike trails. Rotorua’s soil is very soft, and horse hooves can sink in deeply, which can unintentionally damage trail surfaces, create safety issues, and take a lot of time and resources to repair.
You’re still very welcome in the forest, but please stick to approved roads and access areas instead.
Some roads — including Moerangi, Buchanan, Hill Road, Reservoir Road, Tawa Road, and Tikitapu Road — may be temporarily closed or have active logging truck traffic, so please check the updates below before heading out.
As always, follow all signage and be ready to adjust your route if needed. Thank you for helping us look after the forest — we really value your support and understanding.
