Active Logging Operation

And now a word from our friends at Kaingaroa Tipu,

"Kia ora koutou,

Kaingaroa Tipu have a contractor due to commence harvesting next week, for a small area of trees at the 8-Mile Gate Road/Hill Road intersection, in Whakarewarewa,

The contractor will establish on 2nd November 2026.

Operational hours for the logging crew will be 5:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday.

Please see attached a map showing the area of operation. Stop/Go and appropriate closures/diversions will be in place as required.

Several roads and trails will be impacted by this operation, these being:

Roads – Hill Road, Reservoir Road, 8-Mile Gate Road, Larch Road

Mountain Bike Trails – Ball and Chain, Puarenga Trails, Old Chevy, Homeward Bound, Yellow Brick Road, Yellow Brick return, Afterburner Jumps

Running/Walking Trails – Puarenga Trails

KT requests that forest users please use caution in the area, obey all signage, instructions, restrictions and respect the traffic controllers – they are there for your safety.
