Another cracker of a week out in the forest! 🌞 The sun’s shining, the dust is rising, and the trails are buzzing with riders, runners, and crews hard at work keeping everything mint. From big working bees 🐝 to tidy-up missions and digger sessions 🚜, it’s all go!
🌤️ WEATHER & DIRT CHECK
Summer’s knocking! ☀️ Warm, dry days have the dirt feeling fast and fun, with that early-summer tackiness hanging in. Mornings are perfect for digging, evenings perfect for riding — classic Rotorua goodness. 🌲🚵♂️
🧡 HERO STORY: PADDY’S RUN (A TRAIL) WORKING BEE!
What an absolute banger of a working bee! 💪 The crew hit Paddy’s Run with full force — drains cleared, trail widened, and a few seriously stubborn stumps removed by the one and only Brains Trust (these legends turn up to every working bee and somehow make it look easy).
It was all hands on deck with a great turn-out of volunteers, plus a few new faces jumping in too! Nothing beats the mix of sweat, banter, and that first post-bee lap when you see the difference.
Thanks to everyone who came out — you’re the backbone of the forest! 🌲💚
💨 TANK TO TOWN
Three-part mission here — blowing, vegetation, and drain work all ticked off in one go. This urban-to-forest connector is the perfect after-work walk and it’s in better shape than it's been all year. Water’s flowing where it should, and the forest is looking lush. Bring on those cool forest sunset walks! 🌇
🌋 ROSEBANK
Seven hours of digger time and another seven of hand finishing! This iconic trail got a full spa treatment — reshaped rollers, smoothed berms, and refreshed corners to keep that flow alive. Rosebank’s always a crowd-pleaser, and it’s looking prime for summer laps in the Redwoods. 🌞
🌿 DRAGON’S TAIL
A quick but powerful double — blowing and vegetation work to keep this winding favourite clean and quick. It’s flowing sweet and ready to send! 🚵♂️
🪵 TREE CLEARING MISSIONS!
The saws were buzzing this week across Trig Road, Loop Road, Ultra Rosa, Waitawa Walking Track, and Kakapiko Trail — clearing trees, opening up access, and keeping everything safe for riders, walkers, and horses. Over 12 hours of solid graft went into keeping these routes obstacle-free. 💪
💧 TŪTEATA
This gem got some solid love — blowing, surface repairs, and fine-tuning by both the RTT crew and an awesome group of trail adopters. Corners are smooth, ruts repaired, and it’s running stonking good now! A textbook example of teamwork making the dream work 👫👬👭.
🪣 K2, MINI DH & NEW EXIT
The trail adopters of these beauties were out doing their thing all week long! Drain clearing, surface repairs, and edge tidying across all three trails — keeping them in tip-top form. These high-use trails benefit massively from regular TLC, and it’s the adopters doing the mahi that make it happen. They’re even adding new features, so check back regularly to see the improvements. Big thanks to the crews — you legends! 👏
🧡 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Massive thanks to everyone out there doing the mahi — from digger drivers to weekend warriors with blowers. The teamwork between adopters, volunteers, and the trail crew keeps this forest world-class 🌲💚.

7 & 8 November 2025 – 🇳🇿
The Legend of the Peaks festival is back! 🎉
An off-road running celebration taking on the mighty peaks of Whakarewarewa Forest — distances from the epic New Zealand Forest Marathon 🏃♂️
(42.9km, 4 Peaks, 1750m elevation) right down to the 2km Kids Forest Run 👶.
There’ll be food 🍔, music 🎶, an expo 🎪, and an awesome festival vibe at Waipa village — perfect for cheering on your mates and soaking in the atmosphere.
Give runners an egg-on as they pass by 🥚🏃 and enjoy the buzz!
