🛠️ And now a word from the trail adopter…
“Track in better condition than I thought! 👍 XTERRA is on Saturday, and huge rain is predicted Friday. 🌧️ Made sure drains are clear, removed ponga fronds, and got rid of a big dead Douglas Fir branch that could be risky in wet conditions. 🌲 Noted lots of dust and fine pumice sand, so fingers crossed the rain won’t create too much mud!” 🚵♀️💨

🛠️ And now a word from the trail adopter…
"Regular Taura riders will notice some fresh new lines! 🌿✂️ The first hard section has had a bit of a makeover—vegetation cleared, new lines opening up! The adopter is now waiting for rain before finishing alignment and surfacing. 🌧️ In the meantime, ride it and leave some tyre marks so we can see where the flow is! 🚲💨"

⏳ 24+ hours in the last 28 days! That’s how much time this trail adopter has put into this track! AMAZING! 🙌💪 I haven't ridden this gem of a trail since January—reckon it’s high time I get up there for a lap! 🚵♂️💨 Cheers for your hard mah, can't wait to go check it out! 🛠️ 🌳🏆
🍂 Feeder
The adopter borrowed a big backpack blower from Rotorua Trails Trust🎒💨 and spent the day clearing all the detritus (best word ever!) 🌀 and ensuring drains are flowing freely for the week ahead. Fantastic work! 👏 Thank you so much! 🚴♂️
🛞 Corners
The legendary trail adopter + a few awesome volleys 💪 cleared a new pathway to the NEW TUNNEL which takes you under Storm Trooper. 🚇 🚴♂️ Previously, riders had to cross Storm Trooper, but now, just use the tunnel! (aka please don't cross Stormtropper any more :)
👉 Oh, and don’t forget to TOOT YOUR HORN as you ride through the tunnel! Woop Woop! 📢🎺😆
🌄 Te Mounga
This trail adopter has a new helper! Now there will be two of us to keep this trail in check.🎉 First step? LOTS of tree pruning 🌳✂️ to improve visibility, then drainage work, and finally, tracking the trail surface and adding some new features! 🏗️ Big winter ahead! ❄️

The vegetation was getting pretty hairy 🌿😬—but not anymore! Thanks heaps to the trail adopter for getting out there and handling business! 💪 LEGEND! 🙌
The Rotorua Trails Trust Build Team – Keeping the Trails Mint 24/7! 🚴♂️🏇🚶♀️
The trail crew has been flat-out this past week, carving out fresh lines for an exciting new track set to open in just a few weeks! We won’t spill all the details just yet, but trust us—it’s going to be epic. 🤫🔥

On top of that, they’ve been grinding away at the never-ending work that keeps the trails in top shape—blowing debris, digging drains, and cutting back overgrown vegetation. And remember, this isn’t just a once-in-a-while thing—this happens across 300km of trails, every single day, all year round, rain or shine. 🌲💪
The Rotorua Trails Trust crew works tirelessly to maintain and improve the incredible network of walking, horse riding, and mountain biking trails that make Rotorua a world-class outdoor destination. It’s a massive job, and we couldn’t do it without you! 🙌

🛠️ Rotorua Trails Trust First Sunday Working Bee
📍 Where: Rotorua Trails Trust office (next to Redwoods iSite)
📅 When: Sunday 6th April 2025, 9 AM
🔧 What: Working on Bunny Jugs 1 - G4, creating a B-line so more riders feel comfortable using this trail instead of bombing down the hill. (Don’t worry, the tech line is staying!) 👌
👶 Volunteers under 16 must be with a parent/guardian.
👟 Bring: A water bottle and closed-toe shoes with good grip. See you there! 🙌
🌊 XTERRA Rotorua Festival

“Since its inception, the XTERRA Rotorua Festival has grown to become one of the best XTERRA events in the world. 🌎 Each year, we offer seven events for competitors to choose from, all set in and around Rotorua’s Blue Lake and Whakarewarewa Forest—some of the most stunning scenery in NZ! 🇳🇿
🚨 All Trails remain open to all users, but please be considerate and give way to competitors! Let’s show them some good ol’ Rotorua trail etiquette! 🤙
🌿 The forest is FREE to access and love, but it costs A LOT to maintain.
