🌟🚵‍♂️ WHAKA WEEKLY 🚵‍♂️🌟3 July 2025

🌤️ Weather: Golly gosh.

🌱 Dirt: Soft, avoid dragging your brakes to preserve the trail surface. Be tree-aware and report any finds with wide angle picture (so we can see the scope) and GPS Location (trailforks screen shot). 🌳

🪓 42 “Tree Down” Reports in 4 days.😬

Sooo many trees down! Big ones too, had to get RLC contractors in for some of them as we didn't have chainsaws big enough eh 😬

We are clearing them one by one with the help of volunteers and contractors, thanks for you patience.

🚧 New Exit remains closed as RTT now needs to repair the trail.

HUGE thanks 🙏 to all the reports of trees down with pin drops of locations and pictures of the trees, it really does help out so very much!

💪 Somehow, despite the terrible weather, the trail adopters have been out there in force clearing up after the storm!

Amazing! ✨

Tūteata

The adopter cleared up a few of the drains and vege, but there is still a big water issue with the run off from the road heading straight down over the trail.

I feel for the trail adopter, this is a never ending battle, but super grateful they are out there doing their best and keep the trail running as awesome as ever! 🙌

Taura

The adopter has been on a well deserved holiday 🏖️ but is now back, and due to their hard work, the trail has not missed a beat and has continued to run as amazing as ever.

They were welcomed home with some big slips that they have now cleared, vegetation trimmed, signage updated…..

Honestly what used to be a bit of a slog track is now one of the most exhilarating in the forest. Love it! ❤️

Minerals

This is awesome. The community reported trail conditions that were less than desirable, the adopter was contacted, and they went straight out there to fix up the trail.

Brilliant stuff! This is how it should be! Amazing! 🎉

Epic effort buddy, we super appreciate you and all the hard work you put in. #notallheroswearcaps 🦸‍♂️

Pig Track

Our resident poet, the trail adopter of Pig has another gem for us:

“Clearing drains, trimming vegetation, filling holes, removing debris,

Beware! At the top of Piglet there is a downed tree!

Clearing drains, trimming vegetation, filling holes, removing debris,

A miromiro landed a foot from my spade; what a treat for me!

Clearing drains, trimming vegetation, filling holes, removing debris.”

Hehehe love it. 😄

Pigeon Run

The lads from the school holiday program have kept up the hard work building their dream trail.

A lot of effort has been put in by the boys: shaping and packing jumps, ensuring drainage is on point and making fresh berms.

It is a revolution, it is inspiring, putting in the hard mahi after school even though it’s getting dark! 🌘

Chur for the work team! Hope you get to enjoy riding during the holidays.

Feeder

Fantastic work from the trail adopter, heading out immediately after the storm to keep the trail running mint.

Good shout as this trail copped it pretty hard with punga falling down all over the place.

Thanks mate, you are a legend of the forest! 🏆

Dual Slalom Track

Fresh trim of the grass, looking fantastic!

Start with the basics to get the trail ready for a resurface once the weather is more favorable.

First up, get them drains working and the vege cleared, focus on the fundamentals = amazing trails.

Chur buddy! ✌️

Hemo Gorge

The Rinkly Riders strike again!

Hearing the call out of rain ruts on Hemo, the Rinkly Riders tooled up and got right out there to fix it up.

This is the community right here. Fantastic work, thank you so much. 🙏

At a time when the Rotorua Trails Trust is running on fumes, spending 74 hours just clearing trees this week, this sort of volunteer work is incredible not just for us, but for the entire Rotorua community.

Hats off. 🎩

Heck, even if you rock up empty handed and just go for a walk around the Lake and throw debris off the trail, that would be greatly appreciated! 🙌
