🌟🚵‍♂️ WHAKA WEEKLY 🚵‍♂️🌟12th June 2025

🌤️ Weather: Freezing cold ❄️, heavy rain 🌧️, but we love it all. Dress for the weather 🧥 and crack on!

🌱 Dirt: Soft — avoid dragging your brakes to preserve the trail surface. Be tree-aware and report any finds with a wide-angle picture 📸 (so we can see the scope) and GPS location 📍 (Trailforks screenshot works).

🛠️ RTT Monthly Working Bee on Te Mounga Happy Ending

On Sunday morning, on the coldest morning of the year (the puddles were all ice!), 16 amazing vollys were huddled up at Planet Bike, ready to get the mahi done 💪!

We all spent the morning cutting back vege, digging drains , and giving Happy Ending a real good tickle up. Fantastic to see everyone there and have a good chin wag 💬 and bush bash 🌳… and 3 cakes at the end went down a treat too!

See you all at the next one! 🙌

🌲 Pig Track

The tree that had been slowly falling over finally toppled. Thankfully it didn't take too much trail with it, and it has made the trail a little wider now! Thanks, tree 😂 — and thanks to the volly crew for cleaning it all up 💪. Legends! 🌟

👷 As You Do

Here is a word from the trail adopter:

“Cleared debris out of West River (named after the adopter, lol 😆) and rejigged some pungas.”

A light-hearted report on what I’m sure was some pretty epic work! Cheers, buddy — really appreciate it!

🔧 Old Chevy

The trail adopter has done a lap, tidying up any fallen stuff and ensuring the drains are all flowing nice.

“Walked trail clearing branches and light drainage after the last few mega downpours! Nice to see some drains I cleared last time working a treat.”

Cheers, Adopter! 🙌

🐎 Mossy Loop and Baja (Horse Trails)

Big thanks to the volly crew who took the time to give these trails a once over, clearing up sticks and pine cones so the horses can enjoy a clear trail.

Love it — you're outstanding in your field… just like a good horse.

🌳 Taura

Volly tree-clearing crew have done a great job, clearing all the trees that have fallen over on Taura. Lots of trees have been coming down in this block — the trees are fully grown and are starting to lay down on their own 💤!

🪓 Frontal Lobotomy

Here is a word from the volly crew:

“Tree reported earlier has been dealt with, and 3 others. Thank you David from Auckland who stopped by and gave a willing hand with the largest tree that had fallen down the trail.”

Big shout out to all the volly tree movers 🙌 — from those who are registered to use chainsaws to the punters who are out riding, see a tree, stop riding, and shove it off the trail.

Awesome — seriously, we have the best community, I reckon 🏆.

And by community, I mean everyone who comes to Rotorua and helps out on the trails, sends in donations, becomes members — from here to Auckland, deep down South, Hawke’s Bay, Australia, the UK — everywhere!

You’re all part of the community and we love ya! ❤
