🌤️ Weather: Yawn, another day in paradise. 😴☀️🏝️
🌱 Dirt: More evening rain keeping the dust under control. Just. 🌧️🌿💦
Here is a rundown of all the trails that have been worked on over the last week. If it’s too long and you can't be bothered reading it, here’s what you should do this week in the forest:
🏃♂️ Walking Trails: Escape the crowds on the Tokorangi Pa Track (purple) 🏞️🌳👣
🐎 Horse: Keep to the Nursery Road side of the forest to avoid the logging. 🚧🐴🚜
🚴Grade 2: Dipper! 🎢🌊😃
🚴Grade 3: New Corners trail on the weekends, Forest Loop during the week. 🌲🌍
🚴Grade 4: Tūteata just got a MASSIVE tidy-up and has never been better! 🌟✨🔥

“Clearing debris and hacking blackberry out of the way,
Enjoy your ride and happy Waitangi Day!” (nice little ryhm and yes, this is from last Thursday) 🏕️🌄🎉
🌿 Tawarea Returns
Hedge trimming, fern trimming, and weed whacking. ✂️🌱🍃
✂️ Te Pou Koropū
Got a really good trim and mow. 🌿🛠️🌾
🔗 Taura
The amazing work by the trail adopter continues, here is their report:
“The section after Whare Flat has been refurbished with some widening and removal of some judder bar roots.”
This trail has changed A LOT in the last few months—it’s like having a brand-new trail to ride! Some people don’t like change, but I love it! 🔄💖🚵♂️
💥 Whaki
Boom boom bam! Tidy up Whaki? Yes he can! 💪🌪️🌱
“Dealt with a couple of slips 🌊⛰️
Made a mess of some overhanging branches n’ stuff 🌳✂️
Tidied up my mess 🧹🫡
Did some random weeding and vegetation control where needed 🍀🌿
Four hours on the leaf blower 🍂💨
From Whaki Link to Lentil Link 🔄🛤️
Opened some drains 🚰🔧
Uncovered the trails merge sign at Tukonohi 🚴♂️🚏
Pulled weeds and attacked vegetation 💥🪓
Trail’s mint for the XCO next week! 🍃💚”
Great work, adopter—you are awesome! 🎉🔥💪
🚴♀️ Maiden Voyage
The Mud Maidens built this trail and are continuing to do the great work by maintaining it. Pretty tough job for a trail that is all out in the open, steep, and full of technical features! 😮⛰️🏋️♀️
Here’s their trail report:
“We were lucky with some overnight rain. 🌧️ So apart from pulling copious weeds, we moved some dirt to try and fill some of the holes. Bit of loam to be had now. 🌱 Many hands made light work tonight. 🤝🛠️”
🙏 Thanks to everyone who showed up and did the hard mahi! 💪 If you have a riding group and love the forest, please get in touch—we’d love more volly groups like this, out there living the “no dig, no ride” life! ✨💚 Chur! 📧 Hi me up at comms@rotoruatrailstrust.co.nz
🛠️ Corridor Jumps
The recent rain finally added enough moisture into the trail to allow the adopters to get in there and start plugging some of the holes in the berms. 🏗️🌧️🚵♂️
They said: “Smoothed some braking bumps… a lot more to come!” 🚴♀️🔨 Loving it, team—fingers crossed for some more overnight rain! 🤞💦
🏔️ Mini DH
Some great work from the adopter this week (we are sooo lucky to have so many great trail adopters!)
Here is their report: “Fixed up the rut forming into the rock garden and opened up new lines. Cut back more blackberry.” 🪚🌱🌵
🌟 And finally… Tūteata!
This trail has had a MASSIVE overhaul with some great additions and gasp “changes”. 😲💡 Don’t worry, they are super rad and were done with the original trail builder on-site to ensure it kept with the original intentions. 👷♂️🛠️ Go give it a ride—you’ll love it, even if you loved the old section. 🚴♂️💖🏞️
🔥 Taniwha - Various lines and features
The RTT trail crew were very busy this week, working with members of the downhill community to tickle up some features that were looking a bike run down. From building jumps up, adding landings, removing rain ruts, and adding more drainage—it’s looking great! 😍💪🚀
Hey BK, you wanna try that triple again? 👀 We made it a little shorter for ya. 😉😂
